... in springtime!

The spring is here!

It is said that the spring in Israel begins when almond trees begin flowering. But since there are very little almond trees in the city, we need another sign of the coming spring. Fortunately, there is one - Purim holiday.

The winter in Israel is not too cold and dreary, so spring might come unattended, as a surprise. But then suddenly you notice that the days become longer and longer, and the evenings - warmer. And then one day you walk on the street and see people all dressed up in Purim costumes. That's right, it's Purim already. And - the spring!

As a part of my French studies, I recently read some Jules Verne books - in French! Some, like "Captain Grant's Children", I know and love from childhood. Some, like "Michel Strogoff", I read for the first time. To my surprise, it's there that I found a very appropriate quotation to the subject of Tel Aviv in springtime.
Some cold countries can only be appreciates in a cold season, similar to how some hot countries can only  be appreciates in a hot season.
Tel Aviv is a great example of a place that is best appreciated in a hot season. And since summer in Tel Aviv feels for many too unbearably hot, spring is really the best time to enjoy the city.

Take a look at pictures from all over the globe here, and see my old entry about Purim here. Can you already feel the spring in your part of the world?

How lovely to have spring...where flowers bloom, trees grow leaves and around you is the color of the rainbow... unfortunately, we don't have spring in Oman. we go straight to summer...and that is coming very soon. Lovely photo to accompany your post...

We can feel Spring here in Virginia but just barely. Winter is trying to hold on. The warm weather battles with the cold and severe storms are produced. Hopefully it will be sorted out soon. Very nice photo.

We are holding on to the last gasps of summer here, and I think the autumn arrived last weekend with terrific storms.
Great photo to illustrate Purim. Chag Sameach to you and yours for the holiday and warm greetings from close to Antarctica.

Spring has arrived in Finland! It is still very cold -in the morning -10 celsius- but the day time is warmer and the sun is shining. You can feel the spring in the air.
